Why Using a Travel Agent is Beneficial

travelagent

We hear over and over again how a travel agent is not beneficial to us because of the internet age. However, I beg to differ. Travel Agents specialize in a variety of destinations with all different types of travel. I have my niche and we are all in touch with other agents that may specialize in different types of travel.

Our experience from different online trainings and actual site inspections set us a part from online booking engines. The one on one contact alone is enough to prove that we care for our clients well being. The time and patience that we put into each individual booking is what we definitely specialize in. We actually care!!

I am not going to list the numerous ways that we are beneficial. If you find a travel specialist that meets your needs and provides you the care you need when it comes to planning your vacation don’t forget to spread the word. After all, referrals is what helps to keep the business going.

If you feel that we are  not beneficial, that is okay. There are millions of people that use the online booking engines to plan their vacations everyday. Just please understand that there is no way possible that they can give you the same attention that we can, but hey, to each it’s own!!

My agency specializes in group travel, cruises and island vacations. Planning a group through an online booking engine pose many problems for the average consumer. If you book with my agency we are there for you from the beginning to the end. We offer low deposits and payment plans. We will create a flyer for your group to hand out or post on social media websites, we will create a group page for your group on a social media site such as Facebook or provide you with an online website to send your potential guests. These are things that the average booking engine will not supply! Oh and let’s not forget to mention that we DO NOT charge a fee!

When it comes to planning your next vacation, don’t forget that using a travel agent not only benefits you and your family, you are also helping a small business grow.

FACT: YOU NEED A VACATION!!

Sometimes you have to stop what you are doing and think to yourself – Is this what life is all about?

Statistics are showing that many Americans are choosing NOT to take vacations of at least a week or more a year. Many people opt for the long weekends and consider that enough indulgence. When in actuality a long weekend doesn’t help you recover from the daily stresses of living and working.

nerves

Taking time off from work and/or life is like medicine. According to National Geographic an annual vacation can cut the risk of a heart attack in men by 30% and in women by 50%. You don’t have to go far to get peace of mind. Take yourself away from your everyday habitat and enjoy some rest & relaxation outside of your common walls. For some people a little adventure is just as good as R&R.

If you subtract yourself from work for at least one week (many researchers say at least 2 weeks) you will come back refreshed and ready to take on the world. You will be rejuvenated and full of energy. If you suffer from depression or anxiety a vacation will give you the harmony you need to feel at ease with yourself.

Your brain is working full time and anything that is working full time (sometimes overtime) will eventually crash!! Why do that do yourself? In order to accomplish more, sometimes you need to step away from your business for a few days and relax your mind. Your business will thank you and continue to flourish.

It has been proven that people that don’t take vacations are often times edgy, impatient, make bad decisions and can become sick. Treat your mind and body the way it should be treated and start planning your next vacation. Your future self will thank you for it.

I know that most of you are thinking well who is going to run my business if I take a vacation? Well, that is all a part of planning your vacation. We aren’t telling you to just stop what you are doing and hop on a plane or a boat. We are suggesting that you take the time to plan your vacation the right way, so that you can take advantage of the time you deserve!!

Grand Palladium – I Love This Resort!!

I don’t get the mixed reviews. In my opinion this is probably one of the only resorts that has something for everyone!!

There was a little confusion when we first checked in. They weren’t sure which side we were on even though I was pretty sure, but I kind of just followed their lead. Once we were good to go they gave us our building and room number, but we could not check in for another 2 hours because we arrived around 1 pm and our room wasn’t ready. In the meantime, I didn’t like the building we were initially in so I went back to the front desk and asked could they please move our room closer to the main area. I then explained that we honeymooned at this resort when it first opened in 2008 and we were in building 13. She was awesome. She told me to give her a few minutes and she would see what she could do. We were blessed and moved back to the building we were in for our honeymoon and upgraded from a Jr. Suite to a One Bedroom Suite at no additional cost. They are the best!!! We also got our red bracelets which means that we are repeat visitors.

The buffet was very good… No complaints. However, they do enforce the dress code at this resort. Even I was sent back to my room one night because you could see my bathing suit through my clothes. I wasn’t upset because I was taking a chance anyway. We ate at the Xamaica restaurant and the food was amazing!! We weren’t able to try any of the other a la carte restaurants, because the lines were long and I don’t like waiting. The food at the buffet was good enough for me.

Grand Palladium is full of its own nightlife which great. The all-white bonfire party was so much fun!! Before they lit the bonfire they had performers and fire dancers. After that was done we partied the night away right on the beach. The night club was also entertaining as well.

We did the snorkeling booze cruise that leaves right from the resort and we had a blast. We didn’t see much fish swimming around, nonetheless, we had a good time. We did arrive back to the resort quite tipsy in the middle of the day. Totally worth the cost and the experience.

They have a shuttle bus that takes you shopping and to Rick’s Café and I think we paid $15 per person and it is from 1 pm – 7 pm. Not too long and of course not too short! I highly recommend this if you would like to visit Negril. If you would like to include the beach I think it is about $10 more for all of the above.
Staff is friendly and accommodating and the resort is in great condition. They have an adult only pool and beach area if you are trying to get away from the kiddies and just want some quiet time and there are enough pools sprawled throughout the resort. The main infinity pool never ever felt full.

We bought 2 Jamaica charms (that fits the Pandora bracelet) for $80. They are really good at compromising. Initially, he wanted to sell them for $50 each.

Also, there is free WiFi in the public areas only!!

As a travel specialist, this is my second time at this resort and it is still a winner in my book. I will definitely be visiting this resort in the future.

The Bob Marley Experience

The ride up the mountain top in Saint Ann parish was a little intimidating but we made it there and back safely. It is probably a ride I will never do again in this lifetime.

Once we arrived, we paid our entry fee of $19 per person. We were introduced to our tour guide and the tour began. It was an amazing experience as we walked through this museum with pictures of this epic and legendary icon. They had a local band playing Bob Marley’s music and of course you have to stop and listen. As you walk by don’t forget to leave a tip.

We then stopped by his home and as we approached we were told we had to take our shoes off before entering. It was definitely a humbling and enlightening moment to stand in his cozy 2 room home. His kitchen was outside, not too far from his meditation rock, which if you are a true Marley fan you would understand.

The view of Mt. Zion from here is absolutely amazing.

We then visited the mausoleum of his mother and we were told her story as well. Once again, no shoes allowed. We were also told we could not take pictures or video while within the mausoleum, but we could smoke weed if it was our desire.

Right across the way was Bob Marley’s mausoleum that he shares with his brother. The same rules apply as above. Stepping into his mausoleum and learning even more about this legend was positively inspiring to me.

His grandparents are also buried on this estate as well.

After the tour we went through the gift shop, but didn’t buy anything. Everything was marked up a little high, as well as the bar.

Our tour guide was excellent, however, we didn’t get to experience the marijuana tea everyone was talking about….. I guess we didn’t ask the right people about it.

All in all, the tour was great. It wasn’t a long tour, but I definitely left this experience feeling humbled and educated about the awesome Bob Marley.

Beautiful Resort, small issues!!

Check in was easy, which was great, but we were in shock to find out that WiFi was not included (not even in the public areas). They offer packages at a reasonable rate, but I feel what the guests pay to stay here it should be included!!

The buffet was excellent. I cannot complain about the food at all. My husband tried the Japanese restaurant and said that the group waited about 30 – 45 minutes before orders were taken. However, he said the food was good!

When we finally checked into our room the mildew smell was overpowering. We left the room so that it can air out, but when we came back the room was still full of moisture and the smell of mildew. Our sheets even felt damp….. it was very uncomfortable! At around 2 am I called the front desk to see if we can change our room the next day. He told me that I would have to change it now because as of tomorrow the resort will be completely sold out. My husband went to go check the new room to make sure it did not have that same overpowering smell and it did not, so we packed up and moved late that night. Our new room was amazingly beautiful with an awesome view. I consider it to be a small upgrade Our balcony was enormous and the room was slightly bigger than the last.

The beach wasn’t to my expectations, but it was still beautiful. The nightclub at the Suites was a lot of fun as well!

We attended a Destination Wedding here and it was beautiful. The bonfire was the highlight of the wedding in my opinion. I highly recommend it, if you are getting married here.

We only stayed here for 3 nights for the wedding and I wish we there a little longer so that I could rate the other restaurants and entertainment. The pool area is beautiful and very clean and we never had a problem getting a chair near the pool. The resort was sold out, but it didn’t feel like it which is great.

Ultimately, the resort is beautiful, we had a couple of small issues, but nothing that would result in the resort getting a bad review.

Great Jerk Chicken in MoBay Jamaica!!

Scotchies, Montego Bay, Jamaica
#3 Place to eat in Montego Bay according to Trip Advisor.

This place is like a hole in a wall, but the food is amazingly great!! I thoroughly enjoyed my jerk chicken, festival and corn on the cob. My husband also had the pumpkin soup and it was also amazing.

The prices are great and it’s definitely NOT touristy which is great for folks like us.

We even treated our driver to dinner!! A must try while in MoBay.

Glistening Waters/Luminous Lagoon

We didn’t eat here because we came exclusively to experience the Luminous Lagoon. The cost is $25 per person and includes a rum punch or fruit punch. The wait wasn’t too bad. We had a medium size group and only a handful of us actually got into the water. Remember this excursion is at night so that we can actually see the micro-organisms light up as we move around in the water. The water was warm and murky and the sand feels yucky!! I highly recommend you to wear water shoes so you don’t feel that stuff on the bottom of your feet.

All in all, the experience was great especially because there are only other 3 places in the world where you can see this happen. Once you have done it you don’t have to do it again…. so it’s basically like crossing out something on your bucketlist!!

Also, when we were getting out of the water we could still see the blue sparkling all over our swimsuits. The stars were beautiful and the sky was clear this night which made this excursion even better!!

The only downside is we used our Go Pro camera to record and it all came out black so we have virtually no photos of this event. Please bring a camera that takes good night time photos.

First day in Jamaica

Sea Garden Resort, Montego Bay.  If you are looking for a small, quiet, all inclusive resort near the airport and Hip Strip this is the place to go.   Everything is pretty much simple. Airport transfers are $6 per person and can be arranged directly with the resort.  Meals are 3 times a day. Pool is in the center of everything. The beach is right across the street from the resort, but is very private with a bar and grill that are a part of the all inclusive amenities.  Rooms are clean and a nice bright white.   They are still working on parts of the resort with renovations here and there, but nothing that is agitating to the eye.   They just reopened in December so it’s still considered a hidden gem.   Customer service was great and very accommodating. Peter-Gay is such a sweetheart as well as Kemoy. They make a great team with their friendliness and smile.   The resort is walking distance to the Hip Strip and Margaritaville which is great for shopping,  but be careful because everyone wants to sell you something  and everyone wants a tip. The great thing is you can always finagle the prices to get it to where you want to be!!  All in all, awesome resort and a great start to our vacation!!
